Named entity recognition

Recognition of named entities is a task of natural language processing in which we for each token (i.e., mostly word) determine the type of object it represents. Named entities represent proper names of persons, organizations, geographical names and miscellaneous names. When recognizing named entities, algorithms try to take context into account to better infer the meaning of a word or phrase. The task, in addition to coreference resolution and relationship extraction, is one of the basic and key tasks of the text information extraction.
